Whether it’s an in room iPad where guests can order room service or schedule a massage, or the ability for guests to use their smartphones as a room key, one thing is certain – many hotels have invested heavily in technology to appeal to the growing tech-savvy clientele. Over the years, not all hotels have kept pace with new technologies. However as technology continues to become more and more intertwined into guests’ daily lives, those that do not invest in keeping up with new trends are going to be at a serious disadvantage. “Technology is increasingly becoming a brand differentiator for hotels and chains which want to identify with a certain market,” says Katherine Doggrell, editor of Hotel Analyst Distribution & Technology.
